Bekki left two days ago. As I suspected, having her here was pretty fun. When she doesn't have anyone else to compete with, she's relatively fun and normal. She seemed to love Nick, which made me happy. It's awesome to have a terrific boyfriend who makes you happy, but it's even better as he gradually gets introduced to your friends/loved ones and they think he's just as awesome as you do.
Unfortunately, it actually rained/was cold for most of her visit here. I always get happy when the weather in LA becomes less....Los Angeles-like, but it sucks if you want to show someone the sights. We spent most of Friday in search of an outfit for me to wear to the ESP Xmas bash, and then spent most of Saturday/Sunday hanging out at my place or Nick's and eating Hanukkah food I prepared. Finally, on Monday, we were able to go out and about. We went to a variety of cool places, covering a lot of ground in just one day:
1.
Skeletons in the Closet
- This is the gift shop of the LA County Coroner's Office...yes, you read that correctly. Bekki had been
dying (har, har) to go here, since she plans on becoming a medical examiner. In all honesty, the woman working there was the nicest person I've met in the entire 13 months I've lived in Los Angeles. She was so happy to be working in such a kooky place where she gets to meet people from all over.
2.
Santa Monica PierWe mostly went here so we could see the ocean. Santa Monica Pier kind of reminds me of a really really really really nice Wildwood. It has a lot of the same shit- ferris wheel, boardwalk, amusement park but it's super nice.
3.
Westwood Memorial ParkWestwood Memorial Park is one of the cemeteries where a lot of stars are buried- Marilyn Monroe, Billy Wilder, Truman Capote, Dean Martin to name a few. I just found this map while searching for a link to post here, and it would have been helpful to have as we searched, but we managed to find everyone anyway. The cemetery was super nice and they don't mind you grave hunting- I really appreciate that. I hear a lot of "star" cemeteries out here aren't like that, and I don't understand why. We were respectful the whole time, and I'd hope most people who frequent a cemetery would- no matter who they are looking for.
4.
Hollywood Blvd.We did the typical touristy things like taking pics at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, but we also went to some stores to see if they had any Christmas presents. Overall, a fun time was had by all.
Bekki took a lot of pictures, but she hasn't uploaded them yet. Oh well! Yesterday Nick and I went Christmas shopping, but really we just gave each other some ideas on things we'd like. I'll probably go out today to get everything for him.
In other news, I think I'm facebook friends with most people on here, but I figured I'd add this anyway if anyone else wants to be my facebook friend!
